CRUISING
August, 1990
While Mo and I are looking forward to this cruise like no other, it happens that this is not our first. In 1990 Mo and I cruised to Nassau, and also spent time Florida. It was a great trip.
The things that we remember most from that trip include:
Parasailing
(Mo's favorite!)
SNORKELING
(Mo got separated from the pack and came face to face with a GIANT GROUPER)
Banana Boating
Who don't like banana boating!
...and just hanging out on the beaches and in the water.
(Mo found $20 floating in the surf, and I recall that our buoyancy in the high salinity water was also kinda fun.)
How about the rest of you?
What memorable vacations can you remember, cruise or otherwise, from any time in your life?

PEEKSKILL DUDE RANCH in NY...1970's...LOVED IT!...Dad & I won the dance contest...I remember Dad coaching me by telling me to just pretend I was swinging/wiping a towel across my butt...it worked!...I still have the horseshoe trophy...somewhere...
ReplyDeleteGreat post Mike!...brings back memories...I even joined the "Peekskill Dude Ranch" group on Facebook...look me up - my pic is on there...
Our trip to Niagara Falls in June of 2008!! Loved it! Long drive, but we kept it fun with a stop or two on the way there and the way back. Niagara River is AMAZING!! You just don't get tired of watching it. The Canadian Niagara park system is gorgeous. Loved the butterfly conservatory. We saw the power of the water up close. That was a riot. Ponchos and sandles and getting pummeled by the water. I think we experienced Niagara from every vantage point -- except underneath it.
ReplyDeleteAnd this is more the size of the Grouper I saw.

I swam right back to the boat and the guys working on the boat thought it was funny. Having Mike next to me, I would have been OK seeing the fish, but alone, I was done snorkeling.
Parasailing and the "energetic diabetic".
ReplyDeletePop-pop said, "butt"!?!! Good times... Good times...
ReplyDeleteIf I remember correctly, Ken sang "Miss Mary Mack" to thunderous applause on that vacation, and I told a joke, (minus the punchline which I forgot... oops!). But I did win the milky-poo award and I retrieved a spoon from the bottom of the pool (part of a contest) to win a bag of chips.
I think that there may have been some horseback riding in there, too...
BONUS POINTS: We refered to one person as "Mr. xxx" because he always seemed to get that horse. What was the name of that horse?
....Hmmmm...I remember Dad's horse being called "Golden Nugget"...a palomino with a bump on his nose...and he always had to go last on the walking trail rides because Nugget was a kicker...I think my horse's name was "Jamie"...
ReplyDeleteYour comments on our vacation at the PEEKSKILL DUDE RANCH bring back memories. The one thing to add is Ken's performance at the pool. He was about 3 years old, too young to horseback ride. Wearing the flotation bubble on his back, running around, time after time, to the diving board at the deep end and each time announcing to the people lounging around the pool: "I touched the boddom!”
